HADEEL 00:01
So, hi, everyone. Welcome to the first episode of the VeraTalk podcast. Veracity is a student-led initiative that aims to encourage young artists about spreading and flourishing in their desired arts. I'm Hadeel.
ALAA 00:16
And I am Alaa Khalid.
HADEEL 00:19
And today we're so excited to start this journey with all of you. So we're just gonna start by giving, like, an explanation of what Veracity is, in case you don't know. So, basically we are an initiative about uplifting young artists and helping them find their passion and creativity. Since art isn't really that appreciated here in Egypt, we feel like this is really important about helping community and understanding the importance of expressing ourselves in many ways. Okay, so in case you guys weren't aware, the word Veracity is derived from the latin adjective verax, meaning truthful. And the entirety of the word Veracity means true or the quality of being true. The whole point of Veracity is about being true to yourself and being honest. And we believe that art is our truth. It's the easiest way to express what is really in your soul and heart, and it is the easiest way to be truthful about who you are and what you want to give to the world. And here we're trying to redefine what art is, since it's not really that appreciated in Egypt. Arts is a powerful medium through which we express ourselves, we tell our stories, and we share our perspectives of the world. But sadly, art isn't often getting the appreciation it deserves, especially here in Egypt, which is why we've started our blog. There is a blog that you can find on our Instagram, where we tell a lot more about self expression and how important it is, especially in young people here. So you guys could check that out if you're interested in that.
ALAA 02:05
The main reason we are making this podcast is because we want to express art differently and give art the appreciation it deserves. And with this podcast, we are planning to interview people from different fields expressing art in its different forms, such as poets, designers, musicians, directors, etcetera. And the list goes on. We also plan on, giving you, our listeners, a chance to learn, engage, and even debate. Art is so subjective. What might move one person could be completely different for another. That's why we're going to have some friendly debates on different artistic topics. We want to keep you engaged, and we hope you'll see art in a new and unexpected way.
HADEEL 02:52
Speaking of different types and ways of art, that brings us to another reason we're starting this podcast. I feel like a really underappreciated form of art is talking, and how talking in itself is a way of expressing yourself. How do we express ourselves in the barest form other than with our words? It's the most important way of communication, and it's the easiest way to just show what your truth is and what your thoughts are about what's happening. So this podcast, we feel, is an important form of art in itself as is talking.
ALAA 03:28
And it's also a place where we want people to have a free space to express themselves, whether it's their thoughts, feelings, anything related to art. And no matter how unconventional or different it is, this podcast isn't just for listening, it's for participating. We want people to engage in our podcasts and, like express themselves without having any fear of being neglected.
HADEEL 03:53
We want to give every art form the appreciation they deserve and have our listeners feel like they're a part of this journey with us.
ALAA 04:01
With this podcast, we hope to reach a large audience with a lot of similar artistic mindset, with the idea of Veracity that we are going for.
HADEEL 04:10
We'd also love to expand on how people see art, since there are a lot of really underappreciated art forms, like directors putting their vision in a movie and bringing it to life, and how they incorporate that through camera lens, or how designers send messages through their clothes. We'd like to bring more attention to all of these forms of creativity.
ALAA 04:35
And by creating this community where, people are free to express their thoughts about everything, we will have created a whole very friendly community that doesn't neglect anyone, and every thought is countable.
HADEEL 04:49
So, to sum this all up, we really want to encourage arts for the youth and help them find ways to express themselves, reach a larger audience with similar mindsets, and find a safe space to share things they feel they might not be able to share elsewhere. We would love to engage our listeners in debates on different artistic topics and hope to build a community where everybody can feel free to share creativity in their own way. We hope to uplift young artists in Egypt and show them that this is their truth, and that we are here to help them speak their truth.
ALAA 05:27
We are so looking forward to have debates on artistic topics where all the ideas of art can be expressed in a fun and friendly environment.
HADEEL 05:37
Everyone has something to say, whether they know how to say it or not. And our purpose here is to help you be able to put those feelings into words and spread them. We'd also love to help teach you more about art, giving beneficial information and tips that could help you grow, or just talking about different ways art has affected history and affected the people.
ALAA 06:03
And hopefully, by the end of each episode, you have gained a new skill and new information, that can help you in your daily life and in your artistic mindset.
HADEEL 06:15
Or just learned of a new way that art helps you express yourselves. And taken something new from this episode that could help you in your daily life. And that marks the end of today's episode. Thank you, everybody, for joining us in this wonderful discussion, and I really hope you got the point of what we're trying to share here. Stay tuned for more to come, and make sure to follow us on our Instagram @veracityofart for all of our updates, especially since we've got a lot more in store to come. These are your hosts, Hadeel, Alaa. Thank you and goodbye. Bye.
