Political movements
Unbeknownst to many, graffiti played a huge part of political movements. When people couldn’t speak freely, they would use art to express themselves. Graffiti was the best way of anonymity during political movements. Thus, any and all modern political movements people can think of, have had graffiti play a huge role in them. In Paris, May 1968, students started a protest against the government for not having job opportunities for the young people of Paris. It quickly turned into a widespread rebellion against the government. The role of graffiti in this movement is extraordinary. Some key examples were people drawing phrases such as "Sous les pavés, la plage!" (Beneath the cobblestones, the beach!), "Il est interdit d'interdire" (It is forbidden to forbid), and "L'ennui est contre-révolutionnaire" (Boredom is counter-revolutionary). These expressions emphasise the spirit of the May 1968 protests, symbolising the desire for liberation, the rejection of authoritarianism, and the emphasis on creativity and engagement to drive social change.
Cultural expression
Cities like New York have turned graffiti into a tourist magnet, embracing it as a vibrant symbol of their culture. For New Yorkers, graffiti is more than just spray paint on walls; it's a storytelling canvas that transforms neighbourhoods into outdoor galleries. Icons like Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat took graffiti from the streets to the fine art world, blurring the lines between street and gallery. Across the U.S., towns like Los Angeles, Miami, and Chicago have followed suit, using graffiti to narrate tales of diversity, struggle, and culture. Graffiti bridges communities, offering a peek into lives and perspectives often missed. The real magic? Graffiti has influenced many types of art all around the world. These include Fashion, Digital art, Graphic design, Performance art, and many more. Graffiti has become a staple in fashion design recently, as it has a more unique look. Most brands, especially in Egypt, use types of graffiti to their advantage. One big example is Richa! They use graffiti not only for their designs, but for marketing. They take their designs and draw them all around Maadi, to advertise their brand.

Graffiti is more than just vandalism. Graffiti is an expression of feelings, movements, history, and culture. As people grow, more events will occur.
